New Mariah Carey Album Covers Released + Track Listing

Mariah can’t just have one album cover. Oh, no.  That’s ridiculous. She must have two. Here’s the deluxe edition.

I personally love this one. That face is done for the gods, honey! Set for release May 27, a full year after the second single “Beautiful,” the vocal standard of our generation has decided that 26 days is enough time to work her lambs up into a frenzy and get public support of her latest effort. The title:  Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse.  Yes, yes you are. Check the track list, which boasts Nas, Miguel and Wale.

Standard Edition:

I have a question though: if you expect that people are going to love this as much as 2005’s Emancipation of Mimi (which sold 400,000 copies in the first week and 12,oo0,000 overall )  shouldn’t you have put just as much promo effort behind it? I mean, if we’re really honest with ourselves here, the efforts after Mimi were lackluster in terms of sales and some may even say in material. 2008’s E=MC2 sold 436,000 in the first week but only2.5 million around the world. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel only did 2 million. I feel like she’s spent the last  almost 20 years trying to recreate “Always Be My Baby” rather than give us the voice we love.  If you’re going to keep up with the trend in music, you might also want to keep up with the trend in advertising and start getting on everybody nerves with an iPad commercial or something, because it’s been proven that your name alone isn’t moving first week weight like it used to.
