Actress, Elizabeth Peña has died. She was 55 years old.
According to her nephew, Mario-Francisco Robles, the Lonestar actress passed away October 14 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The prolific Hispanic actress had a career that spanned over 40 years and had recently completed work on the first season of Matador, where she portrayed the title character’s mother, Maritza. The show is set to air on the El Rey Network.
She recently guest starred on ABC’s Modern Family as Gloria’s (Sofia Vergara) mother.
She also had roles in 80s movie La Bamba, 1998’s Rush Hour and children’s movie, The Incredibles.
She is survived by her husband Hans, her two teenage children Fiona and Kaelan, her mother Estela, and her sister, Tania.
