Word on the street is that Rodney Jerkins has chosen to work with Luke James’ new boo, Jessie J and baby diva Ariana Grande for the rebirth of the 1998 classic “The Boy Is Mine.” In a recent interview, the famed producer known as Darkchild revealed his plans for a project album celebrating his two decades in the game, which will also include an appearance from British crooner, Sam Smith
I don’t know about you but… I can’t.
Brandy is considered by many “the vocal bible” and Monica as her contemporary has gained plenty of respect. Their collaboration on the record “The Boy Is Mine” got a ridiculous amount of rotation on radio and television (making it one of the most successful songs of ’98,) and won a Grammy, propelling it to an iconic status all its own. Now you want to do this? Ariana and Jessie are both respectable vocalists in their own lanes, but this might be too much.
We don’t like it. We don’t want it. Twitter was also like, “I’ll pass.”
