Wendy Williams Sips Tea As She Addresses The Critcs of Her Aaliyah Biopic

“I see my Aaliyah movie broke the internet this weekend. E’rybody got an opinion. Well I must tell you. Whether you loved or hate, you watched. It was the second highest rated movie on all of cable this year so far. Not just Lifetime. But all of cable! Thank you.

And by the way, you Alexandra Shipp, did a terrific job as Aaliyah”

That’s all Wendy Williams had to say about the televised travesty that was Lifetime’s Aaliyah: Princess of R&B. The gossip queen chose to keep on the sunny side of life while discussing what has become the most recent laughingstock of the internet. Backlash came from everywhere, and understandably so. From the moment Lifetime cast Zendaya Coleman, the movie seemed doomed. When she dropped out and Aaliyah’s family continued to disprove of the movie by blocking the rights to her music, it only seemed to get worse.

Unfortunately, that didn’t stop Lifetime, who called on Wendy to produce the flick and debuted it to be the second highest-rated cable movie this year.

What do you guys think? Was this just a blatantly disrespectful reach for money? Or was Wendy just making the best of what she had?
