Kanye West was quiet musically for much of 2014, but he’s wasting no time getting back to business for the new year. To kick things off, Mr. West spent New Year’s Eve at home with his girls, according to Kim K’s Twitter.
Once the clock hit midnight, the 37-year-old rapper blessed us with a sweet musical bomb, dropping it on the world in the form of “Only One,” a song that he recorded for 18-month-old North West with Paul McCartney. As the first single from Yeezus’ not-yet-titled seventh album, this has us feeling some kind of way… and it involves an entire box of tissues.
Written in the voice of Kanye’s late mother, Donda West who died in 2007 due to complications from cosmetic surgery, the song serves as an encouraging reminder for Nori to keep her head up and be true to herself.
Kim says it’s her favorite ‘Ye song by far.
We can’t wait for the album.
