Man Charged With the Deaths of 3 Muslim- American Students Goes to Court Today


The man who killed 3 Muslim-American student in Chapel Hill, NC is appearing in court today and prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty if convicted.

On February 10, Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, his wife, Yusor Mohammad, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19. were fatally shot by 46-year-old Craig Stephen Hicks in their apartment complex. Police reports state that the incident occurred over a parking dispute, but the victims’ family contend that the students were murdered solely because they were Muslim. Less than an hour after the shooting, he turned himself into police.  According ABC 11 News in Raleigh, to Hicks was charged with three counts of first-degree murder after surrendering.
