History of Meek Mill’s Twitter and Relationship with Drake

Twitter was buzzing at the wee hours of the night after Meek Mill went on a tirade against Drake with a few disses at Saferee, Nicki Minaj’s ex-boyfriend. According to Twitter, the one-sided beef started because Drake did not appear at Meek Mill’s homecoming concert. Many memes, jokes, and commentary were added to the mix as Twitter weighed in on the spectacle but we will review the events leading to the eventual demise of their relationship and the many rants that Meek Mill’s has demonstrated on Twitter.

2012 – 2013: Meek Mill vs. Cassidy

Battle rapper Cassidy and up-and-comer Meek Mill had a beef back in the day because Cassidy stated that he “paved the way for these dudes” who “get 1 year in and get carried away.” Meek Mill took offense and went to brag about having 100K and stated how corny Cassidy was along with thread of tweets. Initially a freestyle battle was supposed to occur with both asking for $100,000 to make it occur but a diss towards Cassidy’s song “Condom Style” resulted in “Me, Myself and iPhone” by Cassidy. Meek Mill released “Repo,” Cassidy responded with “R.A.I.D”,  Meek came back with “Kendrick You Next” and Cassidy finished with”Catch a Body.”

Meek Mill’s returned to Twitter to state his opposition to Cassidy speaking on Lil Snupe, his artist who died from a gunshot wound by tweeting “We gone treat that boy for putting Snupe in his raps! ,” “worldstar shit!” and “One thing about me…… I never told on no n*ggaz…. One thing about me never sold my soul 2 no b#%ches.”

2012: Meek Mill feat Drake – Amen

Dreams and Nightmares displayed Meek Mill’s as a noteworthy rapper with big features like “Maybach Curtains” featuring Nas, Rick Ross and John Legend and Drake featured on the summer jam “Amen” and it was just his debut album. Complex Magazine even credited Drake’s verse as one of the best in 2012. Spin Magazine and XXL rated Dreams and Nightmares as one of the best albums in 2012.

Lil Wayne Tour by rapping along with the “Dreams and Nightmares Intro.” Drake left the stage saying “Free Meek Milly, man.”

3.July 2014: Meek Mill vs. Wale

This is not the first time Meek Mill has been upset with friend for not doing enough. Labelmate Wale was attacked by Meek Mill for not promoting or shouting out his upcoming album Dreams Worth More Than Money. Other MMG members, Rick Ross, Stalley and Rockie Fresh, showed their support by tweeting or retweeting the album release date. Discretion is not one of Meek Mill’s strong points so he went to Twitter to tell Wale how he felt with the tweet “Wale just ain’t gone tweet a thing about my album…. He’s been hating on me long time now …don’t even text me cornball! .” and went on to state that “I don’t need no support…It’s about a lot of these dudes really b hating behind closed doors..All these guys that’s on the rap scene kno.”

Many tweets followed that dealt with jealousy, not needing support, and not acting anymore. Louie V Gutta added his two cents and Meek Mill fumed on that. Wale responded on Instagram because he obviously could not handle the character limit as he responded with a lengthy explanation that included him posting and tagging Meek Mills in a photo for Meek Mill’s single “Suicidal” and the post continued on about how Wale is different, the light side of MMG and how he is just him.

Drake and Nicki Minaj assumed romance was heavily based on their raps with tracks such as “Up All Night,” “Miss Me,” and “Moment 4 Life.”

6.July 2015: Meek Mill Twitter Tirade

Meek Mill uploaded a video of Safaree dancing on Twitter with the accompanying tweet saying “This nigga SB was twerking mannnnnnnn….i always thought u was gay letting Ya girl do all that shit with …” He went on to discuss his success and how people attempt to minimize his with tweets like “I was suppose 2 do 200k first week last time….. And when I did 165k they was acting like I failed! Lol” and “And it’s get it clear Nicki or nobody not responsible for my success…I been had the culture with me..Don’t ever get that confused!!!”

Meek Mill continued and went hard on Drake for not writing his own lyrics and not wanting to be compared “to none of the cats that don’t write they own raps either…… Lol.” He even claimed that Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne know about the happenings behind the scene with this tweet stating “Other artist know tho? lil Wayne and Nicki know ….. Ask em they gone act like they don’t see them tweets.”

Some justification was found in the hoard of tweets, stating “When I get mad I just start saying what’s bothering me….. I can’t not tell the truth! Lol.” He ended his tirade and allowed Twitter to rest with a few gems such as I’m out “I’m going to the club.. Holla at Yall for the next episode of ” and “Ross is really with me…. I don’t look at no tweet …… It’s really love we don’t act like we cool for the camera!” after Rick Ross tweeted then deleted “Drake>>>>>>Meek”

Now we patiently wait for Drake to respond.
