Tina Knowles Pens Open Letter To Beyoncé, Solange and Kelly for Mother’s Day

tina-knowles

Just in time for mother’s day, Tina Knowles Lawson has put a smile on our faces with a lovely letter written  for Time Magazine to her biological daughters, Beyoncé and Solange along with Kelly Rowland and her niece Angie whom she considers family.

In the heartfelt letter, Tina mentions that her girls have been there through the ups and downs as she regained her confidence after her divorce, uplifting her with their kindness, individuality and giving spirits. Give it a read below!

To Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly and Angie,

When I was asked to write an open letter to you, I thought about the hundreds of texts and emails that I have sent to you on holidays and on Sundays, when I ask you to say a prayer to thank God for each other. Every day, I wake up thinking about how much I love, admire and cherish each of you.

I gave birth to two of you, but I have four incredible daughters. Writing this brought to mind all the ways you guys have been such a blessing to me.

When I’m feeling sad or not-so-cute or maybe a little sorry for myself, and you all include me in your group chat and tell me how hot I still look or how cool I am. Maybe you send me a crazy YouTube video. What actually works best is a cute photo of my grandchildren.

I remember slumber parties after my divorce, when we watched old movies and ate a lot of ice cream. I felt so loved and supported. The roles were reversed, and it was ME who needed nurturing.

I remember my first date when every one of you weighed in on what I should wear.

The obvious things about all of you are apparent. You are all strong, beautiful, intelligent and smart businesswomen. You are so much more than that. You are all kind, generous and you treat people well. You are all amazing mothers, wives, daughters, sisters and friends. All of you have total self-respect.

Beyoncé, I wish people could see how you are when you’re not in front of the camera or on the stage. How compassionate and kind you are to people, how you look them right in the eye when you speak to them. How hard you work, how generous you are with your time and money. How you don’t care if anyone knows about it because you do it from the heart. I wish they could see you with the Make-A-Wish Foundation kids, how patient you are and how your love has helped to extend lives. Yes, you are a huge star, but you have somehow managed to stay grounded and humble in the wake of all your success.

Solange, I knew when you were born three days late that you would walk to the beat of your own drum. You were always my rebel warrior! Always defending the underdog and fighting for what you believe in. I remember you, at 10 years old, started a petition to remove a bad teacher, and your dad and I were so proud of you. I love that you do not let others define who you are, or what you are. Whether in your music, fashion or your life, you truly are your own incredible, unapologetic person! As tough as you are, you will drop everything to take care of someone you love.

Kelly, I know without a doubt that you were a true gift from God. You came to live with us when you were only 11 years old. You were the sweetest, most kind person I had ever met and you still are. You are also a true survivor. You never give up. Your discipline and drive always inspires me. You make me want to take better care of my body and constantly motivate me to exercise and take time for myself. You have the best listening skills and are a loyal friend to many. I’ve seen you take the jewelry off of your arm and give it to someone because you wanted to make them feel good.

Angie, you are my niece, but we have always been more like mother and daughter! You were always so mature, always challenging me and questioning why. (Fortunately I never believed in the “Because I said so” or “I’m the adult” crap, either.) I always trusted that you would look out for and protect Solange, Kelly and Beyoncé, and you did! You still do sometimes. You are so smart and perceptive, and you see through bullshit right away! You’ve always had our backs. Our own family fixer!! You know I call you Olivia Pope!!!!!

I’m often asked, what was my most proud moment? I would have to say it was at my recent wedding, when all four of you said in your own words that I taught by example and that I helped to make you the women you are today!!!! That was truly my proudest moment!

All my love,

Mom

Solange Knowles To Marry This Weekend

 photo solange-married_zps93aba08d.png

Wait, what?

Solange Knowles is reportedly set to tie the knot this weekend to longtime boyfriend, video director, Alan Ferguson in New Orleans this weekend. According to US Weekly, the younger Knowles sister has an eventful weekend planned before locking it down in front of friends and family this coming Sunday, November 16.

Word is that Solange will gather everyone for a movie night on Friday and host a rehearsal dinner on Saturday before the nuptials take place near Solo’s home in New Orleans.

This is the second marriage for Solange, who married Daniel Smith in 2004 when she was  17. He is the father of her 10-year-old son, Julez. In 2007 she confirmed to Essence Magazine that the two of them had separated.

Solange isn’t the only one who plans to wed in secret. Beyonce married Jay-Z in a private ceremony in 2006 and new mommy, Kelly Rowland wed her new husband in an under-the-radar Costa Rican ceremony earlier this year.

Congrats to the happy couple!

India.Arie Pens an Open Letter to Blue Ivy’s Hair Haters

After celebrities and fans alike felt a need to go in on Beyonce and Blue Ivy’s choice of hairstyle, India Arie has had enough. Folks got so bad that someone felt a need to start a Change.Org petition.  Syleena Johnson said the child reminded her of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and everybody has a joke to make about a child. The soulful singer took it back to her “I Am Not My Hair” days and asked people to think about the type of person they want to be and protect the hearts of little ones. Via Twitter she gave her thoughts.

“My thoughts on (Blue Ivy’s) Hair
Why does ANYone get the idea that its ok to make fun of a child?
In public no less?

This celebrity culture that hypnotizes people into thinking a person is LITERALLY NOT REAL because you see them on television is a spell the watcher HIM or HER SELF MUST BREAK.

Blue Ivy — is a CHILD.

and ANYONE thinking to themselves right now:

“But she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth so what does it matter what I say”

Denying ANY PERSON their humanity , is a GAME we should ALL stop playing.

WHY?

Because it’s the kind of PERSON YOU WANT TO BE.

Why NOT be a person who is loving towards human kind as a whole AND people as individuals?
WHY NOT be a person protects the hearts of children?

I think! all these people making negative comments would feel the SAME WAY if Blue Ivy’s hair were TOO DONE. If she had a relaxer, of Hair pulled too tight at the edges.

being gentle with a child’s hair is simply appropriate – this goes the same for ALL children.

come ya’ll Lol

Were ARE better than this. “

She then went on to clarify by saying

So what do you guys think of the letter? Give us your two cents in the comments section!

The End of It All? The Carters Release a Statement!

Beyonce-Solange-Jay-Z

Has the Carter-Knowles camp finally had enough? After an exciting week of Instagram shade and conspiracy theories on what what caused the infamous elevator fight between the siblings, it seems that it has all come to a head. The family released a statement via the Associated Press yesterday in an effort to squash all the hostility.

“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. “

I guess I’ll use this time to get my memes in before it’s over.

Had to do it. I’m done.

The trio’s statement continues:

“They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

Well, I guess that means it’s over. In the days since the video of Solange’s Met Gala rage fit hit the internet, the Standard Hotel in NYC has found the employee who leaked the footage and fired them.  Celebrities are humans with feelings and frustrations just like the rest of us.  Good for them, trying to move on from one of the strangest situations we’ve ever seen. Lesson learned: Elevators are not the place to air out your grievances with others because somebody is  watching.

Was Beyonce Hinting at Jay-Z/Solange Problems Before the Fight Went Public? Wendy Williams Talks!

beyonce-jay-z-nets-vs-heat

Things were all good just a week ago, so it seemed. After the internet exploded with confusion, hilarious memes and general wtf-ery (yep, I made it up) at the deep sibling-in-law rage that Solange had unleashed upon Jay-Z in that hotel elevator, it seems that Bey may have been dropping hints via Instagram after the fight initially happened. The Met Gala was held May 5th, this photo was posted to Beyonce’s Instagram May 7th. Subliminal bible verse shade? Clearly something had disturbed Mrs Knowles-Carter down to her very soul and she needed some solace.

I would also like to point out how distant and even more on auto-pilot she looks in the pictures of her and Jay at the Nets’ May 10th game. I could very well be projecting my feelings on to this, but it looks like she couldn’t care any less about being there. You know that look when you’re not listening to a single thing that someone is saying. Her body language just seemed off.

The trouble with Mr. and Mrs. Carter? Beyonce-Jay-Z-After-Solange-Fight

Beyonce-Jay-Z-Nets-Game-After-Fight

According to Perez Hilton’s website, some insight may have been shed on the cause of the brawl.

Moments before the attack, we KNOW the sisters were having fun (except for the Rachel Roy scuffle), because an eyewitness revealed they were dancing with supermodel Naomi Campbell, while Jay looked on lovingly!

But then, some choice words set off Solange — and the insider confessed that she did not agree with whatever her brother-in-law said:
“Solange flipped out over something Jay had said, that she took the wrong way. She took it too hard or too far. Not sure what it was, but she greatly overreacted.”

And DING DING! The gloves were off, and Solange started swinging! Once the family departed from the enclosed area, the singer walked ahead of Beyonce and her hubby, who was photographed with a stunned expression.

The source confessed that both Jay and Bey are trying to move past the unfortunate exposed situation:
“Beyonce tried to stay out of it. She does not approve of violence. They are trying to put the situation past them now.”

Is that what that was, Beyonce disapproving of violence? Could’ve fooled us because it looked like she just didn’t want to deal with the situation. I’m just saying, even if you’d seen these fights before, why not stop it before it gets started? Wendy Williams of course gives her take.

How are you feeling about this the day after? Are you still surprised or do you have your own theory behind the flying fists? Share your thoughts below!

Family Feud: Solange Attacks Jay-Z in an Elevator? [Updated with Full Video]

Solange-Jay-Z-Met-Gala-Fight

Certainly seems like it. According to TMZ, a huge fight broke out when Solange stepped into an elevator with Jay-Z and her sister at The Met Gala last week. We don’t know what sparked the flame, but Solange seemed awfully angry at her brother-in-law. Jay can be seen defending himself against the attack while Beyonce seems to just stand back before stepping in between them, seemingly trying to calm her sister. Solange is being restrained by someone presumed to be a bodyguard. She even tried to kick him, but he caught her by the shoe.  The bodyguard also stopped the elevator mid-trip to keep the spat private. Wow… I have no idea what he said or did to her, but it must have run deep. She got some licks in there and she wasn’t kidding.

The three of them are seen leaving the building together but get into different cars. She looks like she could spit fire, and Jay-Z has come undone.
